Despite 10 shots on goal and the return of goaltender Kate Crandall, the Yale field hockey team was defeated 2-0 by Boston University on Sunday afternoon in Cambridge, MA. Freshman Catherine Lindroth led the Bulldogs with four shots. Yale falls to 5-7 overall, but remains 1-3 in Ivy League play.
The Terriers scored both their goals in the first half off of penalty corners; each within two minutes of each other. Yale played out strongly for the rest of the contest. The Bulldog defense, led by Captain Chrissy Hall, Meredith Hudson, and Emily Palilonis was able to strongly defend the Terriers for the majority of the game and foiled 11 of 13 BU penalty corners.
BU's defense also had a strong day, led by goalkeeper Erin Prediger, who was able to stop four Yale penalty corners.
Goalie Kate Crandall, who returned to starting play after sitting out five games with an illness, had nine saves for the Bulldogs and faced 20 BU shots.
Yale returns home for an Ivy League contest against Penn next Saturday at Noon on Johnson Field.
