WORCESTER, Mass. - Four different players scored as Yale cruised to a 4-1 victory over Holy Cross. Jana Halfon, Meredith Hudson, Marly Gillece and Elizabeth Topp had the goals for the Bulldogs, who improved to 7-6 overall with the victory.
Holy Cross got on the board early when Laura Potts scored at the 6:34 mark off a penalty corner. It was her second collegiate goal, and was assisted by Heather Yanusas and Jillian LeClair. Yale answered with a goal of its own less than three minutes later by Halfon, her team leading seventh of the season. Yale took the lead at 2-1 at the 12:27 mark in the first half on a goal by Hudson. Sarah Driscoll notched the assist. The Bulldogs closed out the half with a third goal, scored with no time on the clock when Gillece hit the back of the cage on a rebound off the Bulldogs eighth penalty corner of the half.
The Crusaders and Bulldogs played an evenly matched second half, but HC could not slip one past Yale goalkeeper Krissy Nesburg, who tallied four saves in the final 35 minutes. Yale tacked on its fourth and final goal of the day on a penalty stroke by Topp.
Holy Cross goalkeeper Jennifer Corsilli had six saves on the day, while Sony Kuhn came off the bench to save two shots. Nesburg finished with five saves for Yale, which outshot the Crusaders 18-8.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday when they play at Penn at noon.
