Jan. 20, 2004

Freshman Elizabeth Friedlander, a goalie on the Yale field hockey team, was recently selected as a College Board State Scholar for the state of Wisconsin. Friedlander, a native of Milwaukee, was selected for the award based on having the highest average score on the College Board's Advanced Placement exams, with no individual score lower than 4 out of a possible 5.

Friedlander was also recently honored for her performance on the National Foreign Language exams. Friedlander placed first in the state of Wisconsin in both the top level French and the top level Spanish exams. She was also the first student to be ranked nationally in more than one exam at the top level.

Friedlander, a graduate of the University School, led her high school field hockey squad to consecutive state championships in 2000 and 2001.
