Three Bulldogs Selected to Compete at Elite Camp
March 2, 2005
Three Yale field hockey players have been selected by U.S.A. Field Hockey to compete at organization's brand new Elite Performance Training Centers. Elizabeth Friedlander, Heather Orrico and Harriet Thayer will begin practicing with some of the best collegiate players in the Northeast Region.
By training at these centers, the three Yale athletes will have the opportunity to be seen by National Team coaches and possibly be selected for one of U.S.A. Field Hockey's elite teams.
Thayer had an impressive rookie campaign for the Bulldogs and was the only member of the class of 2008 to start every game. She scored one goal and notched five assists in 2004 and finished fifth in total points with eight.
Friedlander also had a breakout year. When junior goaltender Kate Crandall was sidelined with an illness, Friedlander played strongly in the starting role, with a 2.50 GAA and .696 save percentage.
Orrico started all 17 games on defense last season for the Bulldogs after playing in 16 games her freshman year.
