Field Hockey Receives NFHCA Academic Team Award

The Yale field hockey team has been selected for a 2003 NFHCA National Academic Team Award. Yale's team GPA of 3.32 tied for fourth-best in the country with Bucknell. Stanford (3.63) finished first, followed by LaSalle (3.47) and American (3.37). Teams selected to receive the National Academic Team Award have achieved a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 during the fall semester of the 2003-04 academic year. All student-athletes listed on the institution's NCAA squad list are included when calculating the team's GPA.

Twelve Bulldogs (Maureen Braun, Fran Gardner, Sarah Driscoll, Stephanie Dolmat-Connell, Jana Halfon, Chrissy Hall, Katie Rivkin, Hiromi Yoshida, Marly Gillece, Trish Bissett, Rachel Lentz and Heather Orrico) were selected to the 2003 NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, announced last week. That was more than any other team in the Ivy League and second only to Stanford overall.
