Bulldogs Welcome Back Alumnae

April 23, 2006

NEW HAVEN, CT - The field hockey team welcomed back contributors from the past this weekend, with a golf tournament on Friday and the 6th annual Alumnae Game on Saturday.

The Bulldogs honored Yale's first varsity field hockey coach, Barbara Bowditch, who coached the '72-'75 teams, at the tournament.

Fifty-nine golfers, including three field hockey alumnae, participated in the golf tournament. Yale's former equipment manager Joe Levatino, who worked with Yale athletics for over twenty years, took to the course along with Anne Keating '77, Lorraine Pratt Lewis '78, and Georganne Natress '85.

Keating and Lewis returned on Saturday to participate in the Alumnae Game, along with seven other returning players. Sarah Driscoll '05, Francesca Gardner '04, Jana Halfon '04, Lindsay Hobbs '99, Meredith Howell '05, and Anne Rippetoe Scharf '01 all returned. Yale's senior class competed with the alumnae. Each team played with eleven players and tied at 5-5, with the series now at 3-2-1.

Battling the rain, past and present field hockey at Yale came together for the weekend.
