NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Continuing its commitment to the community, the Yale athletic department hosted 30 third and fourth graders from Dwight Elementary for a special day with Bulldog student-athletes recently.
Members of the Yale field hockey, baseball and football teams all participated in the event. The day began with a tour/scavenger hunt on the Yale campus, followed by basketball and lunch in Payne Whitney Gym. The Yale student-athletes all took part in a special panel discussion that gave the Dwight Elementary students the chance to ask them questions about life as an athlete at Yale.
The day concluded with games and activities on Yale's Johnson Field, home to the Bulldog field hockey team.
Yale assistant field hockey coach Abby Ostruzka is a teacher at Dwight Elementary and helped plan the event. The Bulldogs hope to expand their relationship with the school through more activities in the future.
