Field Hockey to Host Rhode Island

Sept. 9, 2003

New Haven, Conn. - The Bulldogs host the Rhode Island Rams Wednesday at Johnson Field, looking to rebound from a heartbreaking, 3-2 overtime loss to Sacred Heart last Saturday. Elizabeth Topp and Meredith Howell each scored one goal for Yale, who fell to 0-1 on the young season.

Goaltender Krissy Nesburg made 10 saves for the Bulldogs, who outshot Sacred Heart 29-17 in defeat.

The Rams (0-2, 0-0 A-10) enter action following a nine-day break. On the weekend of August 30, the Rams dropped their first two matches of the season, losing to Sacred Heart on Saturday and Hofstra on Sunday.

While the Rams have yet to score a goal, goaltender Jennifer Perry has only allowed three goals in her first two matches.

The last time these two teams met was on September 30, 2001, in New Haven. The Bulldogs beat the Rams, 2-0.

Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
