NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Sophomore forward Ashley McCauley (Rye, N.Y.), who enjoyed a nine-point day on Sunday to run her league-leading point total to 25, was named Ivy League Player of the Week and selected to the womensfieldhockey.com National Honor Roll. All of McCauley's points have come in the last six games, helping Yale to a 4-2 record in that span. She has 14 points more than anyone else in the league.
McCauley had a hand in all five of Yale's goals in the 5-2 win over Sacred Heart, assisting on the first one and then scoring the next four. She is now tied for fifth on Yale's single-season goals list with 11.
McCauley had 12 of Yale's 29 shots on goal for the week, which also included a 1-0 win at Quinnipiac Friday. She has appeared in 23 games for her career, including 12 starts. Prior to Yale, she was all-state and the top scorer in Section 1 for Rye High School. She was named to the Gannett Journal News All-Star Team.
McCauley is the first Bulldog to earn the Player of the Week award and selection to the womensfieldhockey.com Honor Roll this season. Freshman midfielder/back Marissa Waldemore (New Vernon, N.J.), who was the Ivy Rookie of the Week Sept. 11, was named to the honor roll this past week for her work defensively.
