NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Goalkeeper Charlotte Goins (New Bern, N.C.), who shut out No. 6 North Carolina in 25:35 minutes of action Sunday, has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. Goins, the first Yale player to earn a weekly honor from the league in two years, made six saves to stymie a UNC team that came in averaging nearly four goals a game.
Goins has now seen 52:21 minutes in the cage this year without allowing a goal. Two of the teams she has faced are currently ranked (UNC and No. 10 UConn), and she shut down Michigan State in her other appearance.
Yale returns to action Saturday at Harvard.
