Senior forward Elizabeth Topp (Toronto, Ontario) was named Ivy League Player of the Week after scoring the game-tying and game-winning goals in Yale's first Ivy win at Dartmouth on Saturday. Topp also scored in Yale's win over local rival Quinnipiac on Wednesday to bring the Bulldogs' record to an even .500.
Although she has led leading the Bulldogs in scoring for most of the season, Topp proved last week that she can single-handedly change the course of a game, as she did during Yale's 3-2 OT win against Dartmouth. Topp scored the game-tying goal, unassisted, with 12:30 remaining in regulation and ended the game only 2:28 into overtime, scoring off of a Harriet Thayer (Briarcliff Manor, NY) assist to win the game for Yale. Topp also scored in Yale's win over Quinnipiac on Wednesday evening.
Topp leads Yale with eight goals and 16 points on 32 shots this season.
For her efforts, Thayer was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll for this week. The midfielder is the only freshman who has started all 10 games for the Bulldogs and is tied for seventh on the team in total points with five.
Yale's (5-5, 1-2 Ivy) next contest is against archrival Harvard this Saturday in Cambridge at Noon.
