Lentz Named Ivy Player of the Week Again, McCauley Takes Rookie Honors

Nov. 6, 2006

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior midfielder Rachel Lentz (Short Hills, N.J.) has been named Ivy League Player of the Week and freshman forward Ashley McCauley (Rye, N.Y.) has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. Lentz, who shared the honor with Cornell's Abbi Horn, earned the award for the second week in row.

Lentz scored two goals Saturday, including the game-winner, to help the Bulldogs to a 3-1 win at Brown. Her unassisted tally at 44:56 broke a 1-1 tie and she added an insurance goal at 54:03. The victory gave the Bulldogs a share of second place in the league, a standing they have achieved just three times in the last 26 years.

Lentz ended the season with a team-high nine goals, including seven in Ivy play, after entering the year with no goals in 19 career games. She earned a career-high 14 starts this year.

McCauley picked up the first point of her career with an assist Saturday on the Bulldogs' third goal. Brown had allowed more than two goals in a game only once before this season. McCauley earned her third straight start in the game and appeared in 14 games for the season.
