Halfon and Nesburg named First Team All-Ivy

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Six Yale field hockey players were honored by the Ivy League for their performance in the 2003 season. Jana Halfon and Krissy Nesburg were selected as First Team All-Ivy and Fran Gardner, Sarah Driscoll, Meredith Hudson and Trish Bissett were named Honorable Mention All-Ivy.

Senior midfielder Jana Halfon was selected unanimously as first team All-Ivy. Halfon led Yale in total points with 30 (11 goals, 8 assists). She was also selected twice as Ivy League Player of the Week in 2003. Halfon finished the season third in the league in points (30), points per game (1.76), goals (11), goals per game (0.65) and game-winning goals (3).

Senior goaltender Krissy Nesburg was selected as first team All-Ivy for the second consecutive year. Nesburg finished the season with three shutouts, 99 saves and a 1.91 goals against average.

Senior Fran Gardner, Yale's captain, was named honorable mention All-Ivy after finishing fourth on the team in total points with 13 (6 goals, 1 assist).

Junior Sarah Driscoll was named honorable mention after leading the Ivy League in assists with 14. Junior Meredith Hudson, also an honorable mention selection, finished second for Yale in total points with 22 (9 goals, 4 assists). Freshman Trish Bissett also received an honorable mention after leading Yale's freshman in points with 11 (5 goals, 1 assist), despite missing four games due to injury.

The Bulldogs (11-6, 5-2 Ivy) finished the regular season tied for second in the Ivy League, after winning 10 of their last 12 games.
