NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale junior midfielder/back Heather Orrico (Southbury, Conn.) has been named first team Dartfish/NFHCA Mideast All-Region. Also recognized was junior midfielder Lindsay Collins (Virginia Beach, Va.), who was selected second team All-Region.
Orrico, who also was named first team All-Ivy, was a key player on both ends of the field for the Bulldogs. She generated 52 shots (second on the team) while also anchoring a defense that allowed only 14 goals over the final 11 games. She made a smooth transition from left back to center midfield/center back, finishing with two goals (one game-winner) and three assists for seven points. She also took on a new role as attack corner striker and was the left trail on defense corners.
Collins, who was named second team All-Ivy, led the Bulldogs in points (12) and tied for the team lead in goals (five, including one game-winner). Her speed was a major factor in generating offense for Yale, and she also was utilized as flyer on defense corners to disrupt the opposition. Like Orrico, she took on a new role on attack corners as inserter.
The 2005 Dartfish/NFHCA Division I All-American Teams will be released on Monday, November 21st.
