UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Despite the tough conditions Saturday, the Yale women's golf team weathered the storm, emerging from Saturday's second round in sixth place overall at Penn State's Nittany Lion Invitational.

After posting a combined score of 303 in the first round Saturday morning, the Bulldogs followed up with a 317 in the second, placing them 44 over on the tourney, just 3 strokes out of the top 3.

Junior Harriet Owers-Bradley led the way in round two for the Elis, posting a 7-over 78, good for eleventh overall in the individual standings. Fellow junior Cassie Boles followed up a strong first-round 73 with a second-round score of 81 to place her at +10 for the tourney, tied for fifteenth overall.

Following Owers-Bradley and Boles was freshman Alexandra Lipa, whose strong rounds of 79 and 82 combined to make her Yale's third highest finisher.

The Bulldogs finished the day just two strokes behind the host Nittany Lions, whose two-round total of 42-over was good for fourth overall.

Rollins College (+20 overall) set the pace, finishing 12 strokes ahead of second place Western Michigan, 16 strokes ahead of third place Eastern Michigan.

The Bulldogs will try to make a run at the top three tomorrow as they tee off for the tournament's final 18 holes. The action begins at 8 am on Penn State's Blue Course in State College.
