Five Ivy League Teams in Attendance
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - After a disappointing finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational, the Bulldogs have had two weeks to regroup and are ready to take on the Lehigh Invitational this weekend. The tournament hosted by Lehigh will take place on Oct. 17-18 at the Saucon Valley Country Club. The tournament will feature two rounds of 18 holes.
The Saucon Valley Country Club features four different golf courses. The Bulldogs will be tackling the Weyhill Course, which claims to be the most picturesque of the four. Designed by William and David Gordon, the course measures at 6,859 yards and utilizes the unique features of the land including an abandon quarry. The two most spectacular holes on the course are those which bridge the quarry. One of which, the par 3 fourteenth, requires that your teeshot carry the quarry to a green that slopes dramatically from right to left and back to front.
Nine teams will be competing this weekend including five from the Ivy League. The Ivy League teams will be Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn and Yale. They will be joined by host school Lehigh, as well as Boston College, Siena and Towson.
The Bulldogs started out of the season with a victory at the Towson Invitational, but have struggled in their last two tournaments. Yale took fourth at its own Fall Intercollegiate, after the final round was cancelled due to rain. Two weeks ago, the Bulldogs took eighth at the Nittany Lion Invitational, where the players felt they never quite found their games. This week though the Bulldogs will get another shot at taking on a significant part of the Ivy League. The Bulldogs have already played against Harvard, Penn, Dartmouth and Columbia. Harvard and Penn got the best of the Bulldogs at the Yale Fall Intercollegiate, but Yale beat Dartmouth at home and then Columbia at the Nittany Lion.
The Bulldogs will tee-off early Saturday morning.
