Bulldogs Finish in 16th at JMU Invite

ORLANDO PARK, Fla. – The Bulldogs finished 16th at the JMU/Eagle landing Invite, after three tough rounds of golf. Yale continued to improve though, shooting their best round of the tournament on Sunday. Yale shot 307 (+19) and had four of their five rounds under 80. South Florida won the tournament with a total score of 898 (+34). They were trailed closely by Illinois in second at 904 (+40).
The biggest turnaround of the tournament came from freshman Alexandra Lipa. After shooting rounds of 86 (+14) and 82 (+10), Lipa came firing back on Tuesday to shoot a round of 76 (+4). She managed to keep double and triple bogeys off her card, while also picking up birdies on the par 4 14th and 18th. She finished the tournament with a score of 244 (+28) and in a tie for 79th.
Yale’s highest finishers of the tournament were juniors Cassie Boles and Harriet Owers-Bradley, who finished in a tie for 50th. Boles played the most consistently of anyone on Yale’s team, with three rounds in the 70s. Boles shot rounds of 79 (+7), 77 (+5) and 78 (+6) for a total of 234 (+18). Owers-Bradley also played solid golf for Yale. She shot rounds of 78 (+6), 80 (+8) and 76 (+4) for a total of 234 (+18).
Junior Alyssa Roland shot Yale’s lowest round of the tournament on Monday, and continued to play well into Tuesday. She finished off the tournament with a round of 77 (+5) and a total of 235 (+19), placing her in a tie for 56th.
Sophomore Callie Kemmer continued to improve, dropping six strokes off her score from Monday and shooting an 80 (+8) to close out the tournament. Her three-round total of 253(+37) put her in a tie for 87th.
Yale’s two individuals, sophomore Lily Boettcher and freshman Joy Kim, finished with rounds of 85 (+13) and 88 (+16), respectively. Kim finished in a tie for 87th with a score of 253 (+37), while Boettcher took 94th with a score of 257 (+41).
The Bulldogs will be off until Mar. 29 when they take on the Hoya Invitational.
