Bulldogs Sweep top Four Spots as Yale Cruises to Sacred Heart Invite Title
MILFORD, Conn. - The women's golf team ended its 2010 fall season with a bang, Monday, taking first overall at the Sacred Heart Invitational with nine players finishing in the individual top 25. Freshman See Heo Moon took the individual title with rounds of 75 and 73 (+4 overall), just ahead of senior Harriet Owers-Bradley (80, 72, +8), sophomore Alex Lipa (79, 74, +9), and classmate Sun Park (75. 80, +11).
Cassie Boles also had a strong Monday, turning a solid 76 which moved her up seven spots from where she finished Sunday into a tie for sixth. Junior Lily Boettcher (78, 83) ended her fall season in style, tying for 13th, while teammates Joy Kim and Callie Kemmer both finished at +19 in a tie for 16th. Captain, senior Alyssa Roland rounded out the Yale scoring, finishing in a tie for 24th as her team dominated the ten-team field.
Moon's win was her fourth of the fall, and Sun Park's fourth-place finish marked the second straight week she has played excellent golf for the Bulldogs coming off the injury that kept her out of action for much of the first two months of the year.
Those two, along with the strong core of returners, won four of their five fall tournaments, including victories at the Princeton Invitational, Yale Women's Intercollegiate, and Harvard Invite. The win at Sacred Heart sends Yale into a six-month off-season before they return to the course for their spring season next March. If Moon's domination, Sun's emergence, and the consistent quality of play from the returners this fall are any indication, that spring season should be something very special.
