Sophomore Sun Gyoung Park and Freshman Caroline Rouse were honored as co-recipients of the Widdy Neale Award at the annual women's golf banquet. The award is given annually to the player who does the most to boost the morale of the team and who goes the extra step both on and off the course.
Park, a first-team All-Ivy selection in 2012 by dint of her third-place finish at the Ivy League Championships, was one of the Bulldogs' top performers throughout the 2011-12 season. She played in every tournament for Yale, and was the squad's top finisher at two of the team's three spring tournaments, including the season-opening Rio Verde Invitational (14th) and the Hoya Invitational (13th).
Rouse, a Missouri native, broke into the top 50 at her first collegiate event, the Yale Intercollegiate, held at the Course at Yale last September. She also played in the spring Hoya Invitational, where she took 53rd overall. The 2010 Missouri Class A State Champion, she will be an integral part of the Bulldog squad in the years to come. Rouse is a Pierson College resident and active in Yale's acapella scene.
