Fall Season Opens in Hanover
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — When the Yale women's golf team takes to the course at Hanover Country Club for the Sept. 15-16 Dartmouth Invitational, it will kick into gear a fall season that includes four highly competitive tournaments.
The Bulldogs, who took home third place in last year's Ivy League Championship, will enter the new season buoyed a crop of new talent. Freshmen Michelle Fogarty, who hails from Charlotte, N.C. and Granger, Ind.-native Deanna Song will join a line-up that features several experienced players including senior captain Alexandra Lipa and junior All-Ivy honorees Seo Hee Moon and Sun Gyoung Park.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Chawwadee Rompothong '00, the team will look to capture momentum through the fall season and harness it in its four spring tournaments, which culminate in the Apr. 19-21 Ivy League Championship.
First up on the Bulldogs schedule is a trip up to Hanover, N.H. for the Dartmouth Invitational, which will function as a prelude to their home opener, the Sept. 21-23 Yale Intercollegiate at The Course at Yale.
Although the women's golf team has not competed at the Dartmouth Invitational in recent years, it will surely look to get the season started on the right foot; at last year's Yale Intercollegiate, the Bulldogs finished in fourth place and Moon took home the individual title.
Following the Yale Intercollegiate, the team will make back-to-back weekend trips to Pennsylvania, first to compete in the Sept. 28-30 Nittany Lion Invitational at the Penn State Blue Course in State College, Pa., and then the Oct. 20-21 Lehigh Invitational at the Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa.
The Bulldogs will then enter a period of preparation and training in advance of the spring season, which kicks off with a tournament in Florida from Mar. 15-17.
