Bulldogs on Top After Day One

Bernabe Fires Blistering Opening Round

HANOVER, N.H.—Entering the Sept. 14-15 Dartmouth Invitational as defending champions, the Yale women's golf team did not disappoint on Saturday at the Hanover Country Club in Hanover, N.H. The Bulldogs opened fall competition in powerful fashion with a school-record 286 to lead the field at the end of the first day.

Freshman Elisabeth Bernabe led the way in her debut tournament for the Bulldogs, shooting a dynamic 68 in the opening round to sit atop the individual leaderboard.

Not far behind Bernabe was junior Marika Liu, who shot a 72. Last year she tied for sixth at the Dartmouth Invitational. Freshman Sandy Wongwaiwate, in her first collegiate tournament, and senior Seo Hee Moon both finished Saturday at 73.

Junior Shreya Ghei, last year's tournament medalist, closed at 78 and will look to make up ground during the final round of play on Sunday.

Yale's golfers will tee off starting at 8:30 a.m. Sunday
