Day One of Pirate Invitational Concludes
Yale, Wongwaiwate in Fourth
BEDMINSTER, N.J.—Yale sits in fourth place after one round of the Apr. 5-6 Pirate Invitational, which is being played at Trump National in Bedminster, N.J.
Yale, with an aggregate score of 326 (+38), trails Ivy League foes Pennsylvania (+36), Columbia (+34) and Princeton (+32). Only six strokes separate first and fourth place, so Yale is very much within striking distance of the leaders. Host Seton Hall rounds out the top five.
Yale's Sandy Wongwaiwate, a freshman, is currently in fourth place overall with a score of 76, having finished in fifth at last week's Hoya Invitational. Senior Seo Hee Moon is tied for eighth at +7, after also securing a top-five finish in her last outing. Junior Marika Liu shot an 84, good for 29th on the leaderboard.
The Bulldogs will look to close the gap between themselves and first place on day two of this event. The course was challenging for all the golfers, with no one coming into the clubhouse under par. Yale has yet to finish lower than third place this season, and has set itself up for another strong showing here in Bedminster.
