Golfers Gear Up for Ivies
Head to Balustrol
NEW HAVEN, Conn—Yale will head to Springfield, N.J., for the Apr. 25-27 Ivy League Championship at Balustrol Golf Course. The meet is the last of the season for the Bulldogs, barring possible NCAA postseason tournaments.
Yale will compete in a field that includes every school in the Ivy League athletic conference: Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton and Yale. The Bulldogs, ranked second in the league by Golfstat.com, seek their eighth Ivy League title. Yale last won the event in 2011 at Atlantic CC and has finished third the last two seasons. Harvard, who has won four events this season, has won the Ivy League Championship the last two seasons and is rated first in the league.
Yale has had a phenomenal season thus far, having finished in the top three in every event this season. Senior Seo Hee Moon finished in fifth place in last year's Ivy League Championship, and is heading into this year's event with momentum, having finished in third place at Yale's most recent competition, the Pirate Invitational. Standout freshmen Elisabeth Bernabe and Sandy Wongwaiwate have bolstered the team all season, and look to continue their strong play. Wongwaiwate is the sixth highest rated golfer in the Ivy League by Golfstat.
Yale will hope to reproduce the effort it has seen all season, and come away with this year's trophy at Balustrol. Golfers will play three rounds of 18 holes. They will tee off starting at 8 a.m. on Friday.
