Song Wins Widdy Neale
Recognized for Attitude and Approach
NEW HAVEN, Conn.—Sophomore Deanna Song was honored with the Widdy Neale Award at the women's golf team's annual end of year banquet on Monday evening.
The Widdy Neale Award goes to the player who does the most to boost the morale of the team and who goes the extra step both on and off the course. Song certainly fits that description. Her teammates describe her as a positive and hard-working contributor to the team.
Song, who grew up in Granger, Ind., was a three-time All-State selection in high school. She was awarded the 2011 IHSAA Mental Attitude Award in recognition of the intangibles she brings as a golfer and teammate. She is majoring in Economics and hopes to possibly attend graduate school.
