Chawwadee Rompothong, who guided the Bulldogs to the Ivy League championship in her first season (2006), is head coach of the Yale women's golf team.

As coach of the Yale women’s golf team, Rompothong has steered the Bulldogs to victories at the Ivy League championship in 2006 and 2011, as well as second-place finishes in 2009, 2010, and 2015. In addition, she coached three Ivy League Player of the Year award recipients, two Ivy League Rookie of the Year award recipients, and three Ivy League Individual Champions. Coach Rompothong also received the inaugural Ivy Coach of the Year award in 2015.

The Bulldogs have won 19 team titles and have had 43 top-five team finishes with 21 individual titles under her leadership. Most recently, Rompothong’s teams have won numerous invitational events, including the 2014 Yale Intercollegiate, 2014 Princeton, 2015 Brown, 2017 Yale Scrimmage, 2017 Bucknell and 2018 Navy. 

Rompothong, a 2000 Yale graduate, was a three-time All-Ivy golfer who helped the Bulldogs win three Ivy League titles as a player. Rompothong, who served as an assistant coach for the Bulldogs in 2005, earned All-Ivy honors in 1997, 1999 and 2000. She finished fourth at the Ivy League championship in both 1999 and 2000 and was sixth in 1997.

After Yale, Rompothong turned professional and competed on the Futures Tour in 2001 and 2002. In 2003, she enrolled in the PGA Professional Golf Management Program and is currently in the process of becoming a PGA Class A certified Golf Professional. In addition, she is certified Level 2 by the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) and is also a certified U.S. Kids Instructor. Rompothong also has worked as the second assistant professional at the Pinehurst Resort, home of the 1999, 2005, 2011 U.S. Open, and as a teaching professional at Montammy Golf Club in Alpine, N.J.

2017: Seven golfers recognized as WGCA All-American Scholars, Jennifer Peng recognized as Ivy League Player of the Year

2018: Five golfers recognized as WGCA All-American Scholars, WGCA also recognized Yale as having the 12th best team GPA in the country, and the Yale Women’s Team awarded the Broadhead Award for having the highest team GPA of all the 35 sports at Yale.
