Crystal River, Fla. - The Yale women's golf team finished tied for sixth place at the University of Cincinnati Spring Invitational, the team's first tournament of the spring season.

The 36-hole tournament was held in Crystal River, Florida at the Plantation Inn Golf Course.

Florida Atlantic University edged out Princeton by only two strokes to win the tournament with a combined score of 620 over the weekend.

Yale, the only other Ivy team to compete in the tournament besides Princeton, shot 650 and tied UAB for sixth place out of the nine competing schools.

Ellie Brophy (80-82) and Lindsay Hong (81-81) both shot 162 to lead all Bulldog golfers. The two juniors tied for 22nd place.

Captain Cindy Shin finished only one stroke behind with 163. Shin rebounded from an 84 on the first day by shooting a team-best 79 on Saturday. She tied for 25th place.

Natasha Spackey (86-82) and Taylor Lee (81-87) both shot 168 and tied for 39th place to round out Yale's top five.

Erica Im (165, T32nd), Ashley Young (180, T48th), and Marion Stanley (183, 51st) competed as individuals for the Bulldogs.

Yale returns to action on April 1 at the Georgetown Invitational. The team will then compete in the Columbia Invitational the following weekend, before attempting to defend their Ivy title at the Ivy League Championships in late April.
