Leesburg, VA - After a 10th place finish at the Lady Gator Invitational three weeks ago, the Yale women's golf team was eager to turn things around when they traveled to Leesburg, VA to compete in the Hoya Women's Invitational this weekend. The Bulldogs have done just that. After the first round of play, Yale is in second place out of 15 teams and only four shots back of tournament-host Georgetown.
The Elis shot a team total of 314 on the first day, which included two spectacular rounds by January Romero and JeeHee Lee who both shot 77 and are tied for third place with two other golfers. Lee had four birdies.
Georgetown's Christy Larrimore is currently in first place after shooting 73 over the first 18 holes.
The Elis saw all five of their golfers finish the first day in the top 20. After Romero and Lee, Ellie Brophy, Cindy Shin and Lindsay Hong all shot 80 and are tied for 12th place. As a team, Yale led the field with 10 birdies.
The tournament concludes tomorrow when play resumes at 8 AM.
