Mamaroneck, N.Y. - Lindsay Hong shot 154 and finished as the tournament's runner-up as the Yale women's golf team took second place at the Columbia Invitational on Saturday.
It was a story of seconds.
It was the second tournament in a row that the Bulldogs placed second as a team and also had an individual take the number two spot. Last weekend, Cindy Shin finished one stroke out of the lead at the Georgetown Invitational and Yale finished second to Princeton.
It was also the second time Hong finished as runner-up this season. In the fall, the junior shot a one-under on the final day of the Nittany Lion Invitational to win the second place trophy.
As a team, Yale shot 649 at Columbia. Historic rival Harvard won the event with 641.
All five golfers on the Bulldog team shot impressive rounds. Cindy Shin tied for ninth with 163 and Ellie Brophy tied for 15th with 168. Erica Im (170, T19) and Taylor Lee (175, T28) were close behind.
St. John's Brittany Lambertson won the individual title with 149.
Yale is back in action at the Ivy League Championship on April 21. The Bulldogs are defending champions.
