Yale Finishes Sixth at Ross Resorts Invite

With freshman Cindy Shin earning a fourth place overall finish and sophomore January Romero tying for eighth, the women's golf team had a strong showing in a competitive field, finishing sixth overall at the Ross Resorts Invite at the Mid Pines Golf Club. With 937 team points, the Bulldogs were just four strokes back from fifth place Rollins at the event.

In the three-round tournament, Shin shot a par-72 in the first eighteen holes before adding rounds of 75 and 77 to finish at eight over par, good for fourth place. Romero improved her score in each round, shooting a 77, 76, and 75 to finish tied for eighth place at 12-over par with Kentucky's Emily Culbertson.

Lauren Ressler tied for 29th place with a 22-over par performance after shooting rounds of 78, 77, and 83. Jessica Shapiro rounded out the scoring lineup with a 45th place finish at 31-over.

With 911 points, James Madison University won the event, followed by a second place tie between Kentucky and Alabama. Alabama's Darby Sligh, fueled by a two rounds of four-under-par 68s, was the individual champion at the tournament.

The 2003 Ivy League champions' season will resume in the spring.
