Bulldogs Look to Use Columbia Invitational for Momentum

April 10, 2008

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bulldogs head to New York on Friday to compete in Columbia's Roar-EE Invitational. They will play 36 holes on Friday followed by 18 more on Saturday. Teeing it up for Yale will be senior Ellen Brophy, senior Lindsay Hong, sophomore Taylor Lee, junior Natasha Spackey and freshman Harriet Owers-Bradley. Freshman Cassie Boles will be competing as an individual.

The tournament will provide a gauge of where Yale stands heading into next week's Ivy League championship. The top four teams in the league last year -- Ivy champion Columbia, Harvard, Princeton and Yale -- are all in the field. At last year's Roar-EE Invitational the Bulldogs finished second to Harvard by eight shots, one shot ahead of the Lions. Hong finished as the tournament runner-up.

Coach Chawwadee Rompothong likes her team's chances this weekend.

"It would be great to play well and win this event," she said. "We should place in the top three for sure, and a win would be a great confidence booster for the Ivy championship."

The first round will tee-off Friday morning.
