Yale Coach Moan Finishes Ninth at Connecticut Women's Open

Yale women's golf head coach Mary Moan shot a 151 at the Connecticut Women's Open, which concluded Wednesday at the Country Club of Waterbury. Moan, who had Yale Assistant Athletic Director Fritz Rodriguez as her caddie, shot a 76 in round one and a 75 in round two to tie for ninth overall. Liz Janangelo shot a 142 (71-71) to win by one stroke over Suzy Whaley (70-73-143).
Moan is entering her fourth season with the Bulldogs and has already led Yale to an Ivy League title and the school's first NCAA Championship appearance. She won 16 collegiate tournaments while an undergraduate at Princeton, including the 1997 Ivy League Championship. She was named to the 1997 National Golf Coaches' Association All-America team after advancing to the NCAA Championships as an individual.
A native of Far Hills, N.J., Moan was a distinguished junior golfer at The Pingry School, where she won the 1991 Philadelphia Junior Girls' Championship and was a 1993 American Junior Golf Association All-American.
