Moan Competing at CT Women's Amateur

Aug. 10, 2004

Yale Women's Golf Coach Mary Moan is competing in the Connecticut Women's Amateur Golf Tournament at the Wallingford Country Club August 10-12. The tournament consists of three days of stroke play. Moan's tee time for both Tuesday and Wednesday is 7:35 AM. Thursday's time will be dependent upon her standing in the tournament. Moan won the Connecticut Women's Amateur in June, beating Guilford's Katie Stepanek 4 and 3 in the final. Moan, with Yale Assistant Athletic Director Fritz Rodrgiuez as her caddy, won 8 and 7 in the first round and 9 and 7 in the quarterfinals, then topped Jean Sennett in a playoff in Thursday's semifinals. Moan is entering her fourth season with the Bulldogs and has already led Yale to an Ivy League title and the school's first NCAA Championship appearance. She won 16 collegiate tournaments while an undergraduate at Princeton, including the 1997 Ivy League Championship. She was named to the 1997 National Golf Coaches' Association All-America team after advancing to the NCAA Championships as an individual.
