Suchitra Paul
Year: Freshman
Hometown: Orinda, CA
High School: Miramonte HS

In her junior year, Paul had a consistent season, continuing her streak of competing in every meet. She competed mostly bars, beam, and floor, providing solid scores the Bulldogs could depend on. Her 9.725 on floor against MIT, and 9.7 against URI, helped lift Yale to victory in both cases. At the Ivy Classic, her 9.525 on floor was the third highest Yale score and placed in the top five. Despite an ankle injury early in the 2004-2005 season, Paul competed in every meet and her consistent performance on bars and beam contributed to several Bulldogs victories. Highlights include her 9.525 on beam at the Towson Invitational, and her collegiate career-high 9.7 on bars at the Colonial Classic. At ECACs, Paul scored a 9.8 on floor. Paul had a stellar rookie year, competing all four events. She placed on floor and in the all-around in the majority of the meets, and holds Yale records for both. Her impressive 9.9 on floor is one of the top ten scores in Yale's history of gymnastics, which she earned at both the Ivy Classic, where she placed second, and ECACs, where she won. Paul was named ECAC Rookie of the Week twice. For her strong floor performances, she was named to the first-team All-ECAC squad. Paul joined the Bulldogs from Golden Bear Gymnastics. She qualified to the Level 10 Junior Olympic Nationals several times and in 2002, placed 10th in the all-around. In 2003, she placed 5th in the all-around at State. Paul graduated from Miramonte High School.
