In the 2006-2007 season, Leung was predominantly a bars specialist, although she also contributed to the beam and floor line-ups. She competed on bars in every meet. At the Penn State quad meet, she scored a 9.425, and her season high score was a 9.475 at the Ivy Classic. Both times, she earned the 2nd highest score on the team. During her rookie season, Leung competed in all but one meet. Her top performances came during two of the most important meets of the season, the Ivy Classic and the ECAC Championships. At the Ivy Classic, Leung earned her career high score on the floor exercise, 9.650, contributing to the Bulldog's victory over their Ivy opponents. Leung scored her hightest mark of the season on the vault exercise, 9.400, and her second highest score on the bars, 9.425, at the ECAC Championships.

Leung came to Yale from West Valley Gymnastics. In 2004, she qualified for California state and regional competitions and was an alternate to the Level 10 Junior Olympic National Championships. She graduated as valedictorian from Washington High School.
