NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Five Yale gymnasts have been honored by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches as Academic All-Americans. To be honored, gymnasts must have a GPA of 3.5 or above. Additionally, the team ranked 14th nationally and first among Ivy League programs with an average 3.440 GPA.
The five gymnasts honored were Brigitte Kivisto '10, Lindsay Andsager, Tara Feld, Stephanie Goldstein, and Margaret Greenberg. In addition to their academic accolades, the honored gymnasts contributed heavily in competition. Kivisto, the captain of last year's squad, won the Ivy Classic title in both the floor exercise and the all-around competition and was the only Yale gymnast to qualify for NCAA Regionals. Andsager, a bars specialist, placed fourth at the Ivy Classic and third at the ECAC Championships on the uneven parallel bars. Feld, who competed in all four events for the Bulldogs, broke the school vault record against Penn, scoring a 9.850. Goldstein also competed in all four events in every meet, contributing heavily to the team's overall success.
