SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Yale gymnastics season opened the season with a 175.875-171.150 win over Springfield College, as Stephanie Goldstein won the all-around competition with a score of 35.350. The meet marked the first competition for Yale's four freshmen, Maren Hopkins, Ashley O'Connor, Nicole Tay, and Tabitha Tay. Captain Sherry Yang was pleased with the result.

"For our first meet, I think we did really well," said Yang. "All the freshmen really stepped up. Even though they've never competed at the college level, they looked experienced. I was impressed with their maturity."

On the vault, Yale took 3 of the top 5 spots, with Goldstein finishing second with a 9.125. Yang and Hopkins finished fourth and fifth with a 9.075 and a 9.050, respectively. Tara Feld placed seventh with a 8.950.
