DURHAM, N.H. -With a score of 190.275, the Yale gymnasts had a season-high score and finished second at a meet hosted by the University of New Hampshire. The UNH Wildcats placed first overall with a score of 195.475. The Bulldogs defeated Ivy opponents Brown, who scored a 189.675 to place third.
Junior Tara Feld placed first in the all-around with a score of 38.775. Freshmen Morgan Traina and Joyce Li came in third and fourth with scores of 38.1 and 37.85, respectively. Feld also tied for fourth on vault with a 9.725, sixth on bars with a 9.7, and third on floor with a 9.825. Traina was Yale's top finisher on beam, placing fifth with a score of 9.75. Li tied for sixth on the event with a 9.575.
Junior Stephanie Goldstein also turned in a solid performance competing on three events. Goldstein scored a 9.4 on the vault, a 9.55 on the beam, and a 9.75 on the floor exercise.
"I think tonight showed our promise," said senior captain Mia Yabut, who did not compete due to injuries. "Hopefully the next two home meets will give us the confidence and experience we need to peak at the Ivy Classic."
"We had a really great showing on vault, bars and beam, but struggled a bit on floor," said Feld. "There were a few flukes on a couple of floor routines, but other than that I think we had a really great meet. I'm very proud of the team and the direction we are going."
The Bulldogs return to competition next Saturday at home when they will host the Bulldog Invitational.
