Goldstein Elected Captain for the 2012-2013 Season
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – This week, the Yale gymnastics team elected junior Stephanie Goldstein as team captain for the 2012-2013 season. Goldstein, a molecular, cellular and developmental biology major from Plano, Texas, has been a consistent performer for the Bulldogs since joining the team as a freshman.
During the 2012 season, Goldstein competed on vault, beam and floor in every meet of the season. She placed second on floor at the season opener with a career-high 9.75, third on floor at a dual meet against Penn, and second on floor against SCSU. Additionally, she placed fifth on floor at the Ivy Classic, where she also scored a 9.4 on vault and a 9.65 on beam. She scored her season-best of 9.575 on the vault against George Washington.
As a sophomore, Goldstein was given the team's Outstanding Contribution Award for her consistent performance. Goldstein competed in the all-around in all but one meet. As a freshman, she competed in the all-around at every meet and was one of the team's most consistent gymnasts.
Goldstein was recently given the 2012 ECAC Scholar-Athlete Award for gymnastics. She maintains a 3.89 GPA and volunteers in a tissue engineering and biodelivery lab when she is not doing gymnastics.
