  • Yale Mourns Loss of Don Tonry

    Don Tonry, a 1960 U.S. Olympic Gymnast and long-time Yale Athletic Department staff member, passed away last weekend at the age of 78.
  • Gymnasts Honored at Post-Season Banquet

    Several members of the Yale women’s gymnastics team were presented with awards at the team’s annual end-of-season banquet. Senior Lindsay Andsager, senior Tara Feld, senior Stephanie Goldstein, sophomore Joyce Li and freshman Brittney Sooksengdao were awarded special honors for their influence on this year’s successes.
  • O'Connor Elected Gymnastics Captain for 2013-14

    This week, the Yale women’s gymnastics team elected junior Ashley O’Connor as its captain for the 2013-14 season. O’Connor, a history of science/history of medicine major from New Milford, Conn., is Yale’s only gymnast from the Nutmeg State. Despite battling injuries during her Yale career, O’Connor has been a consistent performer for the Bulldogs, especially on the balance beam.
  • Yale Gymnasts Travel to USAG Nationals

    Seven Yale gymnasts have qualified for the USAG Collegiate Nationals and will compete in the meet this weekend at Centenary College in Shreveport, La. Also sending gymnasts will be Air Force, Bridgeport, Brown, Centenary, Cornell, Lindenwood, Penn, Seattle Pacific, Southern Connecticut, Temple, Texas Woman’s and West Chester.
  • Gymnasts Wrap Up Season at USAGs

    The Yale women’s gymnastics team concluded its 2013 season on Sunday, as Senior gymnast Tara Feld finished 11th on the floor exercise in the USAG Collegiate National championships with a score of 9.575. She was Yale’s sole representative in Sunday’s event finals.
  • Gymnasts Qualify for Post-Season Meets

    Though team competition is over for Yale gymnastics, a number of gymnasts have qualified for individual postseason competition. Seven gymnasts have qualified for the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals in Shreveport, La., and sophomore Joyce Li was named as an alternate for the NCAA regional championships in Morgantown, W.V. If another qualified gymnast is unable to compete, Li will take her place in the competition.

    The 2013 ECAC gymnastics season came to an end last weekend with the conference championship meet. After the meet, various post-season awards were given out and the Yale gymnastics team earned an impressive number of honors.
  • Gymnasts Compete for ECAC Championship

    This Saturday, the Yale gymnastics team will compete in the ECAC gymnastics championship, hosted by Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y. Vying for the title along with the Bulldogs will be Brown, Cornell, Penn, Temple, Towson and William & Mary.
  • Sooksengdao Wins Beam Title, Yale Finishes Fifth at ECACs

    The Yale gymnastics team finished fifth in the 2013 ECAC gymnastics championship meet with a score of 192.100, a significant improvement from last season’s seventh-place finish. Freshman Brittney Sooksengdao won Yale’s first individual ECAC title since 2010, finishing first on the balance beam with a career-high score of 9.850.
  • Feld Named ECAC Co-Gymnast of the Week

    After a busy week that included three meets, senior Tara Feld was named the ECAC co-gymnast of the week for her performance in Tuesday’s quad-meet with Bridgeport, Brown, and URI. Sharing the award with Feld is William & Mary junior Jess Pritchard.
  • Gymnasts Face W&M in Final Regular Season Meet

    The Yale women’s gymnastics team will compete in its third meet in a week on Friday, as the Bulldogs travel to Williamsburg, Va., to compete against William and Mary in their last regular season meet. The Bulldogs are looking to build on their spectacular performance on Tuesday, when they scored a 193.475, the team’s highest total score since 2004.
  • Bulldogs Come Up Short in Final Regular Season Meet

    In the Yale gymnastics team’s final meet of the regular season on Friday, the Bulldogs fell to William and Mary by a score of 193.300-189.525. The Bulldogs will now return home to begin preparing in earnest for their next meet, the ECAC championship.
  • Bulldogs Achieve Season-Best Score in Rescheduled Meet

    Competing in their second meet in three days, the Yale gymnastics team scored a 193.475 on Tuesday, its highest score since 2004 and fifth highest all-time. The Bulldogs finished second among the four teams competing in the rescheduled meet, behind Bridgeport (196.200) and well ahead of this season’s Ivy champion Brown (191.625) and Rhode Island (162.575).
  • Nine Gymnasts Named To NACGC/W Scholastic All-America Team

    Nine Yale gymnasts were selected as Scholastic All-Americans for the 2011-2012 season by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches. In order to qualify for the award, the gymnasts needed to maintain a GPA of at least 3.5. Yale ranked 14th in the country with an average GPA of 3.46.
  • Bulldogs Welcome Three Freshmen

    The Yale Gymnastics team welcomed there three new freshman this past week, with each new gymnast hailing from a different part of the country. The newcomers promise to bring enthusiasm, depth and strength to a strong group of returning upperclassmen.
