NEW HAVEN, Conn. – This Sunday, the Yale gymnastics team will travel to College Park, Md., to compete in a tri-meet against Central Michigan and Maryland. The Bulldogs have been on a roll lately, having scored more than 190 points in each of their last four meets, and will look to continue their progress as they move closer to the ECAC championships.
In last weekend's meet against Brown, New Hampshire and Towson, Yale finished fourth, scoring 190.925. Senior Tara Feld and sophomore Joyce Li both provided outstanding performances for the Bulldogs, with Feld finishing fifth on vault with a 9.775 and Li finishing fifth on the bars with a career-best 9.800. Feld and Li tied for fourth in the all-around competition, each totaling 38.125 points. Senior Lindsay Andsager and sophomore Morgan Traina tied for sixth on the bars, right behind Li, scoring matching 9.775s.
Sunday's meet will be a chance for the Bulldogs to test themselves against some of the stiffest competition they will face this year. Maryland is ranked 24th in the country in the latest NCAA poll, having averaged 195.409 points in its meets this season. Though Yale is unfamiliar with this weekend's opponents, having not faced either Central Michigan or Maryland in the past few years, the team is excited to compete against some of the nation's best gymnasts.
Sunday's meet is scheduled to start at 5:00 P.M.
