Bulldogs Come Up Short in Final Regular Season Meet
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – In the Yale gymnastics team's final meet of the regular season on Friday, the Bulldogs fell to William and Mary by a score of 193.300-189.525. The Bulldogs will now return home to begin preparing in earnest for their next meet, the ECAC championship.
Though unable to equal Tuesday's 193.475-point outburst at Brown, Yale still delivered a number of strong performances on Friday night. Senior captain Stephanie Goldstein broke her personal record on the balance beam (set on Tuesday at Brown) to set a new career best of 9.750, earning a second-place finish overall. Ashley O'Connor set a new career best on the beam as well (also breaking the one she set on Tuesday), scoring a 9.725 to tie for third. Joyce Li tied for fifth on the beam with a 9.700, on her way to a fourth place finish in the all-around with a 38.325, Yale's best all-around finish.
Tara Feld was Yale's top finisher on two apparatuses: the floor exercise and the vault. She scored a 9.775 on the floor and a 9.650 on the vault, good for fourth place on both apparatuses. Morgan Traina was the Bulldog's top performer on the uneven bars, scoring a 9.725 to finish tied for fourth.
The ECAC championship takes place next Saturday, Mar. 23, in Ithaca, N.Y. The competition is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
