Yale Gymnastics Honored for Academic Performance

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale's gymnastics team has once again been honored by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches for its stellar academic performance.  Eight Gymnasts, more than half the team, were named NACGC Scholastic All-Americans for the 2013 season.  As a team, Yale was amongst the top in the country with an average GPA of 3.5315.

The eight gymnasts honored were senior Maren Hopkins, juniors Brianna Chrisman, Joyce Li and Morgan Traina, sophomore Camilla Opperman, as well as graduated seniors Lindsay Andsager '13, Tara Feld '13 and Stephanie Goldstein '13.  To qualify for the award, the gymnasts needed to maintain a GPA of at least 3.5.

"These young women have carried on the tradition the Yale Gymnastics Team demonstrated since the sport's inception," said head gymnastics coach Barbara Tonry.  "They have excelled in both academics and athletics at one of the most prestigious and respected Universities in the country. I am proud of all their accomplishments and know these young women will continue to be outstanding in all areas."
