NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale gymnastics team travels to College Park, Md., on Saturday to take on the University of Maryland Terrapins. This weekend's meet will be the Bulldog's final meet prior to the Ivy Classic.
Yale also travelled to face Maryland last year, in a tri-meet with Central Michigan. Yale finished third, putting up a 190.525, behind Maryland's 196.025 and Central Michigan's 195.575. Junior Morgan Traina was excellent in that meet, producing the Bulldogs' top score on three apparatuses and finished fifth in the all-around.
This year, Yale goes into the meet coming off its highest score of the season, a 188.700 against New Hampshire. Sophomore Camilla Opperman had a fantastic meet, putting up Yale's top score (and personal bests) on both the floor and vault. Fellow sophomore Brittney Sooksengdao was also excellent, finishing fifth on the balance beam. Yale had a number of strong performances across the board and will attempt to utilize that depth against the Terps and carry the momentum from a strong performance on to the Ivy Classic.
Saturday's meet is scheduled to begin at 2:00 P.M.
