DENTON, Texas – Yale gymnastics wrapped up its 2018 USAG Collegiate National Championship experience by crowning four All-Americans at the meet, including first-year Jacey Baldovino earning two certificates on bars and balance beam. In addition, reigning ECAC Gymnast of the Year Jade Buford capped her sophomore season earning First Team All-American for the all-around. Fellow Sophomore Rebecca Chong joined her, earning First Team on vault. After posting multiple near-perfect bar routines all season, junior Jessica Wang made First Team All-American for uneven bars.
Baldovino (Atherton, CA) qualified for individual event finals on the uneven bars at the USA Collegiate National competition Apr. 13-15. She performed an outstanding hit set, earning her a 9.850 score, placing her in the runner-up position alongside teammate, Wang.
Buford (Coppell, Texas) took home sixth place in the all-around competition out of both qualifying sessions. She has competed in the all-around competition every single meet starting her first-year with the Bulldogs.
Chong (Warrenton, Va.) qualified for individual event finals on vault at the USA Collegiate National competition. She earned a 9.825 in order to qualify to event finals. The sole vault qualifier landed in second-place during qualifications, one of the highest positions Yale achieved on vault. She competed in the first position during finals, competing a yurchenko-half earning a 9.8125. Her score placed in her the fourth spot, taking away a top five finish at USA Collegiate National Championships.
Wang (Chino Hills, CA) qualified for the uneven bar individual event final at the USA Collegiate National competition. She posted yet another near-perfect score of a 9.900, sticking her entire routine and dismount. She took home gold as she stood next to her teammate, Baldovino in the second-place position.
