BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Following the conclusion of the team final Saturday, the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships continued Sunday with the individual event finals. Two Yale gymnasts qualified for event finals with their performances in the team semifinals Friday. On bars, seniors Roxanne Trachtenberg and Jessica Wang finished inside the top five.
For individual event final competition, scoring is broken down by the average of four judge scores. Trachtenberg drew the third position in the second group for competition while Wang drew the first competition position in the first group. Wang competed a gorgeous bar set, completing each release and connection with ease. Her hit set earned her a score of 9.600. Trachtenberg followed Wang with a bar set, finishing her routine with a sky-high double layout dismount. Both routines conclude Yale's debut at the USA Collegiate National Championships.
For the all-around competition, junior Jade Buford took home eighth place in the all-around competition out of both qualifying sessions Friday night.
This marks the conclusion of another fantastic season for the Yale gymnastics team. The 2019 team added multiple records to the history books and won the 16th Ivy Championship team title for the second year in a row. The team will now look forward to 2020 and hopes to continue its widespread success from 2019.
