Fong came back strong after a summer wrist surgery to win bars at each of the Bulldogs' three home competitions and at the New Hampshire Invitational. She then went on to break the school record she set in the event the year before with a 9.925 at the Ivy Classic - another first-place finish. She now has eight of the top 12 bars scores all-time at Yale. Fong often competed in the all-around and was named second team All-ECAC in that event for her outstanding performances throughout the season. She was also honored as an ECAC Scholar-Athlete. In her freshman and sophomore year, she qualified for NCAA regional competition. As a sophomore she placed first in the all-around and the uneven bars at the Ivy Classic and was a member of Yale's Ivy Classic championship team. Along with her record on the bars, Fong holds the Yale record on beam with a 9.875, and in all-around with a 39.35 and is tied for the record on floor with a 9.95.
Prior to Yale she was a five-time Junior Olympic Nationals competitor, placing 10th in the all-around and sixth on the bars in 2001. Fong is a graduate of St. Ann's School.
