NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bulldogs started the 2007 season by finishing fourth out of four teams at a meet hosted by the University of Rhode Island on Friday night. Senior Miki Seltzer won the floor competition with a score of 9.625. She was the only Yale gymnast to finish in the top three in any of the four individual events--vault, bars, beam, and floor.
Rutgers won the meet with a score of 189.225. New Hampshire (188.90) finished second, while host Rhode Island (186.525) took third. Yale missed third place by a small margin, finishing with a score of 185.325.
Rutgers' Lorena Johnson (38.200) won the all-around competition, besting her teammate Laura Sevarino (37.775).
The Yale team will travel to Philadelphia for a meet with Penn on January 20th.
