New Haven, CT - Competing in front of their home crowd at the John J. Lee Amphitheater for the first time this season, the Bulldogs got their first Ivy win, defeating Brown 191.25 to 184.15.
Senior Kathryn Fong earned a 9.85 from the judges on the bars, the highest score recorded in any event all day. Fong followed up her superb performance on the bars with a 9.75 on the floor.
Of the three competing all around gymnasts, Yale's Anne McPherson finished first, with a total score of 38.075. She edged out Brown's Amber Smith by .4 points. McPherson turned in excellent performances on the bars and on the balance beam, registering a 9.75 in each.
Team captain Christine Lacy was Yale's best performer on the floor, earning a 9.8 from the judges.
The Elis return to the friendly confines of the John J. Lee Amphitheater next Saturday, when they host Southern Connecticut State University on Youth Day.
