Yale Competes Against Penn State, Nebraska and Rutgers

University Park, PA - The Yale women's gymnastics team faced stiff competition today against Penn State, Nebraska and Rutgers. The No. 17 ranked Penn State team took first place with a score of 196.025. Nebraska had 195.475 points, Rutgers had 190.550, and Yale finished with 190.200 points. The Yale freshmen had a particularly strong showing during the meet. Kimberley So '09 led the Bulldogs in the vault, uneven bars and all-around, and teammates Lauren Tatsuno '09 and Alina Liao '09 also put in noteworthy performances on the beam and floor, respectively.

So had Yale's highest score in the vault, capturing ninth with a score of 9.825. So also led Yale in the uneven bars, scoring a 9.575 for twelfth place. In the all-around competiton, So tied with Penn State's Lisa Clark, scoring 38.675 points for fourth place.

Tatsuno led the Bulldogs on the beam, coming in tenth place with 9.650 points.

Liao scored a 9.800 on floor exercise for a ninth place finish.

The Elis will host Rhode Island at home in New Haven, on Sat., Feb. 18, at 1 pm.
