Durham, NH - Senior Kathryn Fong and junior Anne McPherson represented Yale at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on Saturday afternoon at the University of New Hampshire. Fong competed in her signature event, the uneven bars, and McPherson competed in the all-around. The dynamic duo faced stiff competition from Arkansas, Oklahoma, UNH, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and LSU.
LSU dominated the team competition and the vault, bars and floor exercise individual contests. Vanessa Barrios of New Hampshire was able to break through LSU's winning streak to claim first in the beam competition.
Fong placed 35th on the uneven bars, scoring a 9.325. She has been a true force on the Yale gymnastics squad, winning three consecutive uneven bars titles at the Ivy Classic and recording Yale's top four uneven bars scores of all-time.
In the all-around competition, McPherson placed 18th with a score of 36.5. McPherson was 42nd on the uneven bars with an 8.725. McPherson was also 42nd in the floor exercise, scoring an 8.8. McPherson scored a 9.375 on vault to claim 39th place and had an outstanding beam routine that merited her a 9.6 and 27th place.
